Dorchester Youth and Community Centre aims to provide a truly inclusive, fun and safe place where young people can spend time with their friends and participate in fun activities. The Centre has been run by a charitable trust since September 2016.

We are on the search for passionate and enthusiastic Youth Workers to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of young people in Dorchester.

In this role you will assist the Youth Worker in Charge to run the sessions, help plan and deliver an exciting programme of activities, organise some activities yourself, ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people attending, and maintain accurate records.

Although we are ideally looking for someone with experience working in a youth centre setting we would welcome applications from people with other experience of working with young people aged 11-18, the qualities required for youth work, and a willingness to undertake training. DCC courses in Youth Work are available fee-free to all staff at the youth centre.

Sessions are on weekday evenings 6.15 pm - 9.15 pm (not Easter, Christmas and August), 3 hours per session @ £8.67 per hour. There are currently two vacancies on Friday. There is the possibility of additional hours on Mondays and some Tuesdays if wanted.

The closing date for interviews for the first vacancy is 3/2/19. Please apply as soon as possible for the second vacancy but at the latest before 24/2/19. Please send a CV and details of your experience relevant to the role to dyccta@gmail.com,

We also have a number of volunteer positions available for people with limited experience of working with young people, which offer a route to enter youth work and gain experience and qualifications. DCC courses in youth work are also available fee-free to volunteers.

Due to the nature of the work all successful applicants for paid and voluntary positions will be required to obtain a DBS enhanced disclosure. This can be applied for through the Centre at no cost.
