1:1 Teaching Assistant

The Quay School, Poole

Salary details: £9.74-£10.14 per hour

Hours:  34.5 hours per week – 39 weeks (Term Time only)

Until August 2021 (with possibility of extension)

The Quay School is a progressive educational establishment that supports young people through difficult times in their lives. Our different sites provide for very different needs and we are currently looking to employ a Teaching Assistant to work at our Parkstone site. Our Parkstone site works with students who can’t attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons including mental and physical health needs.

This job will involve working as the key adult for a specific young person to support them in class as well as at social times. Experience of working with young people on the Autistic Spectrum would be an advantage.

The Quay School takes great care to recruit the very best people so that the services we provide are first class. We believe that the best work gets done in an environment that's enjoyable and which values, supports and encourages the development of its employees. In return we expect our employees to work hard and be committed to help us achieve our vision and share our values.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students and parents. You must be able to demonstrate previous successful work within an educational setting or similar, preferably with students with additional needs. You will need to have at least GCSE level English and Maths in order to ensure you are able to adequately support students in class. Flexibility, professionalism, the ability to use your initiative and a desire to see young people reach their potential are vital.

If the above sounds like you then we would like to hear from you

Visits to the school are welcomed, please contact Vicki Glasgow (SENCO and Deputy Head Teacher) on v.glasgow@thequayschool.com to arrange an appointment or discuss the role further.
