Technical Support Officer

Would you like to be part of a team that provides excellent technical support to our Building Control Officers and a fantastic service to our customers? If you are, then a we have a great opportunity to join our Technical Support Teams in Building Control. Following a restructure we have a full time and part time post available based in either our Dorchester or Wareham Office.

What you will be doing

Our technical support officers undertake the administrative tasks required to support a building regulation application through its process. Reporting to a Team Leader, the role will be varied and interesting and the post holder will need to be customer focused, confident in using their own initiative and able to prioritise a demanding workload.

Details of the types of work undertaken nature of the work are provided in the Job Description and Context Statement .However tasks undertaken will include :

• Registering and validation of all types of building regulation applications.
• Working closely with our Building Control officers to provide a high quality level of support.
• Be a point of contact to our agents, applicants and builders to answer any queries or provide updates on their applications.

About you

The experience, knowledge and skills required for this role are specified in the Person Specification. In summary we are seeking individuals who are organised, able to meet the demands of a busy work schedule and ensure deadlines are met. You will need to have good communication skills, be an effective team players as well as have the ability to work of your own initiative.

IT systems used include Microsoft packages, Skype, Teams and service specific systems such as Mastergov, Acolaid and Uniform. Training for service-based systems will be provided however a good working knowledge of IT including the use of Outlook, Word and Excel is essential. Our services are customer focused and the post holder will be communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.

Additional Information

There is no significant travel requirements for this role. However, you may be required to work from different Dorset Council offices in order to provide resilience to the team.
