Strateigc Parking Projects Officer

Temporary until 30.05.2022 - 37 hours per week

£31,371 - £36,876

Charminster

Dorset Council's Parking Services Team are based at two sites in the Dorchester area. It provides a blend of responsive and proactive services to customers and stakeholders on a range of Parking related matters. The team combines on-street Civil Enforcement Officers and an administrative appeals team.

What you will be doing

The role within the Parking Services Team will be to develop strategic level parking-related projected and policies across the Dorset Council area whilst supporting key Council and Highways priorities. The post has been created to facilitate and lead on parking projects and initiatives whilst recognising increasing pressures on climate change, air quality and public health.

The work will include engaging and linking with the emerging Local Plan and Local Transport Plan development, car parking policies and key local partners including the largest employers in the area.

There will be a requirement to lead and develop Parking Policies of the Dorset Council.

About you

The post-holder will be able to consider effective ongoing monitoring and assessment to demonstrate the effectiveness of any change projects undertaken.

Project delivery will be a key part of the role and the successful applicant will be required to demonstrate a track record of successful project management through to implementation. Successful experience in public and stakeholder engagement will be a key requirement for the role as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to balance a wide range of views.

A demonstrable appreciation of the parking options and their issues and benefits would be an advantage as would a relevant qualification in parking or other relevant subject, or significant knowledge of the parking industry.

Effective public and stakeholder engagement is critical to the role and the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the position.
