Conservation Officer

37 Hours per week

£26,822 to £29,323

What you’re great at:

You will have a sound technical knowledge, but also be familiar with how a conservation service fits within the planning system.  You’ll be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative to tight dealines, but also be able to contribute to the interdisciplinary work of the wider Development Service.  You will have excellent organisation skills; a good knowledge of Arcmap and Idox systems; and be able to deal confidently with a range of clients including members of the public, council colleagues, councillors and the the private sector.

What you will own and how you will grow:

You will assist the Senior Conservation Officer in providing the Partnership’s conservation service as well as spending some time supporting Purbeck District Council's conservation service. 

Key areas of work will include providing consultations for planning and listed building applications; undertaking Conservation Area Appraisals; analysis of development proposals and their potential impact on heritage assets; gathering evidence in accordance with PACE protocols where there are planning breaches; and the complilation and presentation of reports.
