Salary details: £13575 - £15398
Plus Local Government Pension Scheme and mileage allowance
Hours: 37hrs per week
The Christchurch and East Dorset Partnership is looking for a Planning Technician to join its Development Management team.
You will be responsible for providing support to Senior Planning Officers and Planning Officers by undertaking site history checks and research. You will also be expected to support Senior Planning Officers in the assessment and determination of major planning applications. You will respond to correspondence and enquiries from Members of the public. This will include determining applications for Certificates of Lawfulness (proposed) which will involve an assessment of the application against national legislation. You will be expected to monitor and check compliance with planning conditions and legal agreements.
You should be able to demonstrate a proven ability to make competent decisions and have a good understanding of the planning processes. The successful applicant will need to have experience in working in a Local Planning Authority function or related area. You should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, be able to work within statutory timeframes and respond professionally to enquiries from members of the public.
The post will be based at the Civic Offices, Christchurch. There will be a requirement to travel around the Partnership Area (Primarily Christchurch Borough Council) to undertake site visits. You may on occasion be required to work from the alternative base location in Wimborne.
