Conservation Enforcement Officer

37 Hours per week

£27,358 - £29,909

12 months fixed-term

What you’re great at:

You will have a sound technical knowledge, but also be familiar with heritage enforcement and the procuring of heritage funding.  You’ll be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative to tight dealines, but also be able to contribute to the interdisciplinary work of the wider Development Service.  You will have excellent organisation skills and be able to deal confidently with a range of clients including members of the public, council colleagues, councillors and the the private sector.

What you will own and how you will grow:

You will assist the Senior Conservation Officer in driving forward improvements to the Weymouth Town Centre Conservation Area in order to remove this area from Historic England’s “Conservation Area at risk” register.  Key areas of work will include preparing a Shopfront Design Guide for the conservation area; preparing  Section 215 notices; working with the Council’s Weymouth Town Centre team to provide heritage input into ongoing public realm improvements; gathering evidence in accordance with PACE protocols where there are planning breaches; and sourcing and applying for funding related to heritage regeneration.
