We are looking for an experienced planning officer and manger to join our team.
What you’re great at:
You will work within an area covering part of the Dorset Councils’ Partnership Area and report to the Major Applications Manager on a day to day basis.
This post will be based in Dorchester however, you will be required to work from other locations within the Partnership and will include opportunities to work in an agile way.
What you will own and how you will grow:
The post holder will manage a small team of officers dedicated to dealing with a range of major planning projects within the western area of the Dorset Councils’ Partnership area including Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport and Lyme Regis. The work will include day to day caseload and staff management and as a case officer working in a cooperative manner with internal and external bodies to bring forwards major development sites identified within the adopted Local Plans and other key developments.
The Area Lead will work alongside other departmental team leads and act as lead officer for Committees and therefore will require a good understanding of working on cases which may be controversial and of working within a political environment.
