Weymouth Harbour Master

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, knowledgeable and experienced individual to manage the busy leisure and commercial Weymouth Harbour, situated on the south coast in Dorset and set within the spectacular World Heritage designated Jurassic Coast.
What you will be doing
Your duties will include controlling shipping movements, sailing schedules and supervising slipway and berthing arrangements. You will be responsible for the management and implementation of the Port Marine Safety Code and checking compliance with Harbour byelaws. You will be required to plan for the long-term future of the Harbour and to maintain and improve its commercial performance reporting to Dorset Council as the competent harbour authority.
You will have experience of the management of ports and harbours at a senior level. Knowledge of legislation relevant to ports and harbours, an appropriate marine related qualification, the ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and experience of management of port operations in a commercial environment will be required.
You will join a small specialist team to manage and coordinate the development and daily operations of the Harbour working closely with our other Harbour Masters, Senior Officers, the Chairman and other members of the Harbours Committee, marine sector representatives and a broad spectrum of Harbour users.
