Dorset Councils Partnership are looking for enthusiastic people who are able to assist the Elections Team in maintaining their annual records.  Canvassers will need to visit properties where the annual household enquiry forms have not been returned, and encourage residents to complete the necessary forms, or assist individuals to complete the form.

To complete the job successfully you will need to:

  • have good communication and written skills
  • be well organised and able to work to tight deadlines
  • be honest and conscientious
  • be over the age of 18
  • be able to attend a one hour training session prior to commencement
  • have access to transport with business insurance
  • be hard working
  • be used to handling confidential information

The employment will be on a casual contract - the hours are not set and the work can be carried out during the day or in the evenings and at weekends.  However, we are looking for people that can offer quite a number of regular hours in September, October and November to complete the annual canvass.

If you would like to find out more about what this involves, please have a chat with the Electoral Services Team on 01305 838299 or email the team elections@dorset.gov.uk.

Mileage will be paid at the standard HMRC rate, and the position attracts an hourly rate of £8.19.
