Are you a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual looking for an exciting new challenge within Local Government?

A new opportunity has arisen at Christchurch and East Dorset Councils Partnership focusing on the high profile area of Data Protection and Information Governance. With the impending introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the partnership has created this new role to deliver and maintain a programme to ensure GDPR compliance. The post holder will report to the ICT and Information Manager, and be the first point of contact for all Data Protection issues.

In addition, the post holder will respond to Freedom of Information requests and provide advice and guidance on best practice in Information and Records Management.

 You will have previous experience of project delivery and working to a tight timeline, sound knowledge of the current Data Protection Act as well as a good knowledge of the upcoming GDPR and how it should be practically applied within a business. Part of the role will include training and advising staff in GDPR, so you must be a confident communicator.

 Skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of the legislation that affects Information Security – Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulations, Freedom of Information Act, with at least 2 years experience working in a data security regulation role
  • Experience of delivering business and/or IT change projects/programmes
  • Experience  in the creation of Information Asset Registers and Data Protection Impact Assessments,
  • Experience of developing and delivering staff training
  • Knowledge of good Information and Record Management practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
