An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Housing Team as an Accommodation and Lettings Officer.
What you will be doing
You will be involved with managing and administering of temporary accommodation including managing voids and lettings, income management and tenancy management. This will include sign-ups, end of tenancy visits, monitoring and assistance with benefit claims, implementing move on strategies for our tenants, inputting tenant rents, and organising removals and storage. This role also encompasses administering the Councils’ choice based lettings scheme, including maintaining all necessary records, and nominating all properties available to the Council in line with the Dorset Home Choice Allocations Policy.
You will also be responsible for providing advice to Housing Register applicants and colleagues on matters relating to allocations, bidding, applications and interviewing where necessary. This may include housing register, choice based lettings, housing benefit, specialist housing providers, social housing providers, homeswapper, homebuy, shared ownership and mutual exchanges.
You will have high standards of written and spoken communication and have a good level of numeracy, and IT skills including the use of databases, spreadsheets and all other Microsoft applications.
You will require a good understanding of the current Housing legislation and up to date knowledge of welfare benefits. You will need to be confident and self-motivated when dealing with the public and a wide range of stakeholders.
