Charminster Depor & Blandford Depot

Dorset Council's Sign Shop Team are seeking to recruit two Skilled Roadmen who will be working within our sign erection teams under the supervision of a Construction Chargehand. One post is based out of our Charminster Depot and the other from our Blandford Depot.

What you will be doing

The successful candidates duties will include:

  • Erection of road traffic signs and posts to the specifications and guidance of the current UK & European regulations.
  • To erect commercial signage and graphics at various customer premises.
  • To erect road closures, diversions and Chapter 8 signage as required.
  • To take part in the out of hours emergency response and winter maintenance rotas as required.
  • Ensure daily drivers checks are undertaken.
  • To work under supervision of a Construction Chargehand but on occasions unsupervised.
  • To ensure all works are completed safely and obligations under the Health & Safety at work act are met fully.
  • Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported in a timely manner.
  • If workloads dictate or in emergency situations to assist with the manufacture of signage.

About you

To achieve this, we will be looking for the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Driving licence (preferably clean).
  • Experience of general construction and/or civil engineering work.
  • Experience / knowledge of the sign industry.
  • Self motivated.
  • Organised.
  • Basic IT Skills.
  • Able to work in a team or under own initiative.
  • Innovative.
  • Flexible - the post will require occasional out of hours / night shift work.
