Corporate Director Adults Commissioning

This is a key new post which will provide strategic leadership and direction for effective commissioning of Adult Social Care across Dorset focused on delivering the best outcomes for residents and based on a strengths-based approach. You will work in collaboration with Health and Social Care partners, stimulating markets, leading market redesign and encouraging innovation across all areas to ensure an integrated person centre approach. You will ensure that co-design and co-production are at the heart of our commissioning strategies and business delivery. This is a key senior leadership role within Adults and Housing, Dorset Council and the wider Dorset Health and Social Care System.

You will be part a high performing Adults and Housing Directorate which is focused on ensuring a sustainable approach across all services and developing strong partnerships with health, care providers, voluntary sector, community group, people who use services and their carers and residents.  This is an exciting opportunity to play an influential role in developing a sustainable Adult Social Care Service across Dorset in what is a very challenging time, but also presents a number of opportunities in terms of doings things differently and making use of technology.

 You will take an operational lead for Adults Commissioning, Brokerage and Quality within Dorset focused on building on our current good practice and looking regionally, nationally and internationally to further improve quality. This will include the delivery of our ambition of ‘fit for the future’ services, ensuring that value for money and outstanding customer service is at the core of everything we do and supporting the Council’s digital journey.

Experience of working in a senior adult social care commissioning role. Proven experience and demonstrable track record of collaborative partnership working and working with people who use services and carers is essentially. Proven ability to lead teams and working effectively with internal partners.  Evidence of success at shaping the adults social care market, influencing the market and market management.

About You

We are looking for applicants with significant direct adult care commissioning and leadership experience and a track record of leading a successful commissioning function.  You will also have experience of partnership leadership at a senior level across public and private and voluntary sector partners.   You will be self-motivated and have a passion for improving adults social care focused on a strengths-based approach and the desire to ensure we are making a difference to our residents. You will have a keen interest in ensuring that our work is underpinned by co-production.

This post has a significant travel requirement and you are contractually required to have a vehicle (or transport deemed to be suitable by the council) available for use as required.
