Project Engineer

The engineering projects team are a small, dynamic team of project engineers that manage a large and varied workload ranging from nationally recognised coastal protection schemes to major harbour projects. We now have an exciting opportunity to fulfil a vacancy within the team.

Recent achievements in the team include the successful capital scheme delivery of West Bay Deep Water Berth, Lyme Regis Environmental Improvement Scheme Phase 4, Lyme Regis Harbour Master Office and Shire Hall Redevelopment, Dorchester. Going forward the team will tackle high profile engineering schemes within Weymouth Harbour & Esplanade, Portland Harbour Shoreline as well as Phase 5 of the Lyme Regis Environmental Improvement Scheme.

What you will be doing 

You will successfully deliver engineering & construction projects; on time, within budget and to client brief, including coastal defence, flood alleviation and harbour improvements works. Specific tasks include;

Preparation and management of contracts, business cases, procurement plans and funding bids for coastal defence, land drainage and other construction projects.

Procurement and supervision of consultants and contractors for coastal defence, land drainage and other construction projects.

Monitoring and reporting as well as ensuring high standards of Health and Safety management in construction projects progress and budget for coastal defence, land drainage and other construction projects.

About you  

You will have experience in project and contract management, managing consultants and contractors, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time, to budget and to specification.  You will be enthusiastic, innovative and able to work on your own initiative with minimal direction and to tight deadlines.

The role will involve extensive liaison with elected members as well as other local authorities and stakeholders.  The ability to communicate in various different forms to a high standard is essential.
