Restorative Dorset are recruiting for Volunteer Restorative Justice Facilitators

Do you know that:

  • Under the Victim’s Code* every victim of crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) has the right to be informed about restorative justice where it is available?
  • Restorative Justice is a process that can bring those affected by crime and ASB into communication in order to repair some of the harm caused?

Restorative Dorset has been providing victim centred restorative interventions for those involved in crime and ASB across Dorset since its launch on 28th September 2017.

We are now seeking additional volunteer Restorative Justice Facilitators to join our existing volunteer team and help to further develop our service. We are particularly looking for applicants who are available during the day and live and/or are happy to travel to meetings in West, East, North Dorset and Purbeck.

Facilitators prepare participants for and deliver face to face meetings and other restorative interventions. The restorative process can help to empower victims by giving them a voice while holding offenders to account for their behaviours. Facilitators also work to create an environment that supports participants in community conflict to find and agree their own solutions.

If you are an excellent communicator, care about victims, and believe that you have the ability to objectively guide and support others through a restorative process, please consider using and developing your current skills in this rewarding role.
