Apprentice Business Support Assistant

Temporary until 31.03.2022 - 37 hours per week

£17,711 - £19,171

County Hall, Dorchester

Business Support Apprentice, Learning and Development Team, Dorset Highways.

We have an opportunity for someone to join the Learning and Development Team within The Embedded Business Support Team for the Highways section of Dorset Council.

The Learning and Development Team are a small team of two (including yourself) and you will be assisting the Senior Officer with the day to day running operations of this valuable function within Highways.

You will be required to work 37 Hours per week (including your apprenticeship studies or training days) and the apprenticeship is expected to last for 18 months.

What you will be doing

The work is varied and will cover all aspects of Learning and Development support, including booking training events, managing the training calendar and updating training records. Ensuring that all of the workforce have the necessary qualifications to complete their day to day role as efficiently and safely as possible.

To take a role in general business support including but not restricted to, direct customer service and letters to all stakeholders (the public, Councillors, emergency services).

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to visit and experience a variety of roles both inside and outside the immediate team with access to all Highways areas.

Qualifications required

A minimum of 4 GCSE’s or equivalent, 2 of which must be Mathematics and English.

Other important information

This is a fixed term position where you will have an employment contract and job description which will be supplemented with an Apprentice Agreement for the duration of your Apprenticeship. This will enable you to spend 20% of your paid working time on learning and development activities relating to the Apprenticeship.

Things to consider

In a non-covid situation this role is primarily based at Charminster Depot and County Hall in Dorchester and you may need access to transport to facilitate this.
