Parkstone Connect is a friendly, busy, day service providing support to a large number of people who have different needs and interests. The centre offers a wide range of activities and the staff help people individually and in groups. The centre has had apprentices for many years and some work with us now as permanent members of staff!

The role of Business Administration Apprentice is a brand-new opportunity, created to help us meet the needs of the people we meet and help every day, our clients, our staff, our carers, visitors and members of the public.

You will be working mainly on the front of house on reception and in the administrative back office , helping create a vibrant, friendly customer facing centre that puts people first, and develops this aspect of work as we seek to become more outward facing as a service.
We will help you learn our systems as well as releasing you to achieve a Level Three qualification .

You will be working with the other members of the administrative team and with the managers of the service to devise and implement a welcoming 'front of house' service and a very efficient 'back office' administration service.

We will expect you quickly to become part of our administrative team and will welcome your innovative work to improve what we do, including more use of technology as an aid to work and as a tool to enrich what we can offer to clients. We really want you to develop your skills and interests whilst you are with us.

This is a great opportunity to make your mark as you develop your business skills in a friendly setting. You will receive formal and informal training. As well as support and allocated time off each to attend classes to achieve a level three qualification

Skills required

  • Ability to project a friendly and helpful attitude
  • You will have good ICT skills and be confident to help others in this area
  • You will have strong numeracy and spoken and written English skills

Personal qualities

Positive, reliable, innovative, good humoured, trustworthy, active, keen to learn and resilient.

Qualifications required

Level 4/Grade C qualifications in English and Maths and a good standard of education.

Other important information

This is a new role and the successful candidate will help us develop our service. It is especially important that the person can work on their own initiative and deal with complex organisational issues.

Things to consider

This is a large and very busy environment and the candidate will need to be able work with many different people and in a big team of staff. They will need to have some personal resilience. The appointee will need to be well motivated and realistic about the challenges in working in a day centre environment as a business manager of the future.
