An exciting position has become available within the Peripatetic Team for a Specialist Substance Misuse Social Worker.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated full time Grade 10 (level 2 ) Social Worker. This post will be located across West Dorset to provide support to the Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport Locality Teams. There are 3 other specialist substance misuse social work posts working across Central and East Dorset.
The posts are new following Dorset County Councils review of substance misuse services and you will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of these posts.
You will work with both Adult Locality Teams and Children's Services in providing assessments and support to those affected by substance misuse.
You will be required to take the lead in supporting and working with locality teams where substance misuse issues have been identified. This could include undertaking care act assessments, undertaking individual pieces of agreed work with both service users or carers, facilitating referrals into structured treatment services, undertaking assessments to assess the impact of substance use on parenting capacity and to provide support to manage risk or safeguarding issues.
Previous experience of working with people affected by substance misuse is required.

You must have a degree in Social Work / Occupational Therapy or equivalent, be registered with the HCPC and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post.
